Hawai’i – The Big Island 2013

In the spring of 2013 we took a trip to our third Hawaiian island, this time visiting the Island of Hawai’i itself.  Often called “The Big Island” for obvious reasons, to see the whole island meant staying in two different towns.  We stayed just outside Kona and traveled to the other side to see Hilo and the active volcano – amazing how different the areas of the island are, with one side being nearly a complete desert while the other is lush and full of life!
